ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS! Contact for complimentary introduction
Our first session is about getting to know your space and each other further. You don’t need to have it all figured out, and please no tidying beforehand. Just come as you are, and we’ll go from there. I’ll ask a few questions about your space, your routines, and what you’re envisioning. Based on our initial consultation and how you want your space to function, we'll make a plan. Then we’ll roll up our sleeves and get started. Whether we’re meeting in person or virtually, I’ll guide you with care and plenty of check-ins throughout our session.
You’ve got this! Keep reading to see how we break any project into manageable steps.
Focus & Prepare the Workspace
Start by taking a good look at the space and get clear on your goals for the space. If we’re tackling an entire home, I’ll suggest we begin with the area that needs the most help, while keeping a holistic overview in mind.
First things first: Set up a defined workspace where you can focus on making decisions—usually designating spots on the floor, bed, or countertop. We’ll gather sorting supplies (boxes, bags, ziplocks) and make sure donate, trash, and recycling receptacles are ready to go.
Sort & Declutter
Next, group things into categories and start defining zones. If I’m with you in person, I’ll often do this ahead of you. If we’re working virtually, I’ll describe exactly what I’d do and guide you step by step, so you can take the lead. Then, we’ll go through each category together to decide what to keep, donate, recycle, or trash. Typically, piles emerge of projects, errands, and "put away elsewhere."
My job is to support you in decision-making, keeping things focused and moving along. We’ll talk through why or how to keep things, and discuss options for thoughtful giving and disposal.
Purposeful Placement for Everyday Ease
You can keep anything, but you can't keep everything. Each thing you keep gets to take up space in a designated home. I’ll help prioritize easy access for daily-use things, while putting less-used items in more out-of-the-way locations. In a virtual session, I’ll guide you through this process step-by-step. Let me know about the items you love most! We’ll find ways to display or organize them in a way that reflects your personal style and story.
Choosing Keeping
Containers = calm. A box or even a shelf or the room itself act as clear boundaries for how much space a thing or category of things can take up. As we go along and find "homes" for every thing, we’ll explore organizing helpers—such as bins, dividers, and labels—that help you maintain the system and keep things running smoothly. If I’m with you in person, I can take measurements, source items, and even return to install anything we’re waiting on. If we’re working virtually, I’ll talk you through measuring and send personalized product links and instructions. Either way, I’ll make sure you feel confident and supported as things come together. Then, we’ll admire our hard work and get excited about the new possibilities for your space!
Chances are we'll discover items that fall in the categories of pending decisions, projects or errands (AKA Procrasti-clutter!) These items need some sort of multi-step action to be completed. I'm here to support you in that follow-through. Remember: Completing a task is decluttering!
